The Calaveras Cold Case Task Force's 5th annual fundraiser dinner at Ironstone Vineyards: a formal dinner with special guest speakers, a raffle, a silent auction and a live auction, plus a no-host wine and beer bar. Funds cover laboratory costs to solve cold cases and identify human remains using forensic science. Tickets: General admission $100; Silver table sponsorship $1,000 (table for 8 with Ironstone wine); Gold table sponsorship $1,600 (table for 8 with Ironstone wine, raffle tickets, a special souvenir and table placement). About Ironstone Vineyards
Ironstone is the flagship Murphys winery out on Six Mile Road: amphitheater, wine caves, gardens, and the Gold Leaf Bistro doing brick-oven pizza (the Heritage Museum is closed for renovations). Every summer it hosts four to eight big concerts for crowds of 3,000 to 8,000, and yes, the bands have no idea where all those people come from either. Big enough to absorb a wedding-sized crowd, dogs welcome on the grounds, free parking. Go once just for the scale.
