About New Melones Lake
New Melones is the big reservoir off Glory Hole Road outside Angels Camp, a real destination for boating, fishing, swimming, and camping (a long drive 'down the hill' from Arnold, but worth it). The New Melones Lake Marina is full service: it rents houseboats, pontoons, fishing and ski boats, waverunners, kayaks, and paddleboards, with a store for bait, ice, and groceries plus gas on the water. Levels swing a lot year to year, so check conditions before you tow the boat down.
